Engine idle rpm

I looked briefly through the owners manual on my tractor (B2650) and don't recall seeing anything on idle rpms. Anyone know what they should be? Currently it idles 1050-1100 rpm.

Also on a BX23 - looking for a tach solution, there's nothing on that tractor currently. Not only need a tach but also a idle rpm recommendation. It sounds fine by ear, but the B sounds high to me. Just curious.

Sounds about right. Can't slow them down too much other wise they start to shake.

Google "tiny tach" for a great solution, there is lots of discussion here on TBN also about them. These small engine do idle fast, helps with the vibration as mentioned above,

Now I can't say whether he was right or not, but my 1999 B2710 was idling that fast and the salesman at the dealership said it had something to do with emission requirements. I turned the idle down to about 750.

I'll take a look at that tach for the bx, thank you.

I think I'm going to turn the idle down a bit but not so far that it shakes. Possibly turn it back up in the winter if the cold starts to affect it. I noticed the bx shook a bit on startup in the cold, usually a slight bump in the throttle took care of that til it warmed up a minute.

I was doing some routine greasing and checking of the tractor tonight, and decided to adjust the idle and see what happened. It seemed settle nicely around 875-900rpm. No shaking, smooth as can be. Sounds very normal/natural to me. Initial rpm drop went down to about 700-750 and that was definitely not right, slowly brought it up to a smooth point and added some more for good measure. I'm happy with the current idle and will keep an eye on it as the starting temps change. Very easy to manipulate also, just a pair of 10mm wrenches and a few spare minutes.

Thats where mine is. I turned both my b3030 and the Grand L down to about 850
I like to idle now and then when out and about the tractor without it racing, no need to have it any higher.

Old L245dt idles @750. 96 Ford 4x4 7.3 dually diesel alittle less.

My B26 idles at 1000 but 850 - 900 is pretty standard for a diesel tractor engine.
