I picked up a used diesel engine and am trying to figure our what I have. I have a 1995 Ford 1520 compact diesel. and thought this might make a good spare. This engine is not exactly the same but eventually I'll use it on something like my skidsteer if I can adapt it to fit. I was told it was a 1991 Ford ???? but the previous owner (planned on using it in a logsplitter) had purchased it from a damaged tractor himself and couldn"t remember what the model number. It has a small dent in the oil pan and the crankshaft damper (I need to buy) is broken. A tree fell on the tractor and from the description I think it may have been a lawn mower sized 1210 or something smaller than my 1520. He thought it was 30 hp but my 1520 is only 23 hp. I didn't see any runout when I checked it with a dial indicator gauge. The engine has a cast number in it "E643 & 0617d, if I remember correctly Ford's used Shibaura engines in the compact diesels; my 1520 has one. Is this the right forum or should I post this in another section? I know I'll have some problems starting in as it has set for at least 5 years. Thanks, Jim
