Hi Guys,

To date I have not needed to preheat the engine in my Jinma 554 tractor as it is stored inside an enclosed workshop. The engine is the Fujian Lijia SL4105 ABT diesel. I am thinking that an engine heater might just be helpful even though it starts fine in cold weather.

I have looked for a screwed in plug on the engine block that might be useable for a block heater and didn't see anything. Has anyone had success with the block heater idea? Failing that I guess I will need to install an inline rad hose heater to do the job.

Will be changing out the antifreeze this summer and flushing block etc, so thought this would be the time to do that sort of work.

Any ideas would be appreciated along with Napa part numbers of heater used.

Thanks

Jim

I have a much smaller machine - Jinma 284 but the idea is the same. I use a KATS heater in the radiator return line PLUS two Wolverine heaters.

One Wolverine is on the oil pan and the other is under the rear. After years of using the KATS alone, I still had problems in that I had to wait until the hydraulics heated up. A few weeks ago I went out in the morning and it was 2F. The water temperature showed 120F and it started immediately with no glowing of the plugs. The hydraulics were already warm and ready to go.

I highly recommend the Wolverine heater patches.
