End of the KOBALT Brand

Local Lowe's store only has a few craftsman tool boxes and enclosures at the moment. Every thing else is still Kobalt or there other brands.

I wonder if the Kobalt factory will just stamp there tools as craftsman now.

Also wonder if they will be made in USA.

Never had anything but craftsman sockets ratchets never broke anything. Decades of use. Breaker bars are meant for breaking things loose not ratchets.

 I always have a set of 1/2" impact sockets in the truck toolbox. I have a 2' breakover bar and a 4' cheater that fits over it. Comes in handy changing a tire on the side of the road. I also have a 2' torque wrench so that the lug nuts don't get over tightened putting the tire back on.

My guess is Kobalt will be the lower priced entry level and Craftsman will be the "premium" tool

I think you are probably correct. I bought Craftsman for my main tool set back when it was still made in the US. I do have some Pittsburg, Stanley and whatever stashed in barns and sheds at my remote properties. They do the job. No Kobalt but they all work fine. I thought at the time that Craftsman had the best deals during sales on sets that fit my needs. No regrets, I hope Craftsman is here to stay. I do hope they tighten up their return policy to prevent tool abusers from returning tools that were improperly used.

I don’t mean to offend, but I would not return a tool for exchange that I broke while knowingly misusing it.

Why not? That’s the whole reason for buying lifetime tools.

I misuse my tools quite a bit, but I have only managed to break like 5 in 10 or more years.

A few extensions, one 1/2 to 3/8 adapter and a 3/8 ratchet, all I have broke.

It’s a lifetime warranty. Not a we’ll exchange it if we feel like it and you weren’t abusing it. The chances of me not losing a broken tool before I have a chance to return it is slim, but I will given the chance.

You are more honest than I am.

I have only had 1 I can think of break under normal use. Here recently, a 3/8" craftsman Allen socket. It scratched my jeep. Just let go and snapped with barely any force.

I just plain wore out a couple matco and snap ons. They were replaced no question.

I have picked up craftsman, husky and was given a snap on tool found on the road and exchanged them for new. Used to buy broke craftsman and snap on at pawn shop and exchange.

Isn't that kinda what happens anyway? I think Danaher was making a lot of craftsman. I have some craftsman pro stuff that matches some Matco and sk stuff.
