Empire Farm Days 2003

I haven't seen anything here about trying to get together again this year in Seneca Falls. The Empire Farm Days are Tuesday through Thursday, Aug. 5-7. I've noticed some new TBN members that should be within striking distance. Let's kick it around and see if we want to try for a repeat (or bigger) of last year's very successful get-together.

Duane, Von, Rich, JMIII, Pete and all the others I met there last year: Boy I sure would like to come, but our house/dog/cat/chicken/sheep sitter moved away and I'm not sure if we'll be able to find another we trust like her. One of Tamara's best friends lives in the Finger Lakes area, so she might want to visit again even though Fair Food is off limits for us. Atkins diet, folks. Lost 20# in three weeks and I have another 35# to go before I can eat like a human again! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Will, I'm replying to you so this post will come back up front. Empire Farm Days is just over three weeks away, and no one has suggested a day, time or place to meet. I got a card in the mail saying there is a special Ride & Drive Track on the 5th & 6th for trying out the newest Compact Tractors. For openers, how about meeting at that track around noon on Wed. the 6th? We could test drive some of the new CTs, get some of that good food (they must have salads available, Pete!) and look the rest of the displays over.

If that time doesn't work for some, say so and see if we can come up with a time that does.

Duane -- I'd love to come, but we just have too many projects going on around the hill. Like fencing that has to be put up before the sheep arrive. A bathroom to rebuild so I can get that cast iron tub out of the dining room. A foundation to pour for my expanded shop. You get the idea. Maybe next year..?

Wednesday has always been my personal day to go to the EFD, but as of now I am open to any day. The demo program sounds like fun, but I am going to be researching ZTR mowers this year /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif. It could not hurt to demo a new 'bota though!

I asked my wife if we were going this year and for some reason she believes that I deceived her last year! /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif Can you imagine that? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Just because I led her to believe there'd be horse related stuff there, and there wasn't, she doesn't want to attend this year! I even tossed in the carrot of staying longer in the Finger Lakes region instead of driving up one day and returning the next (12 hours on the road for 4 or 5 hours at EFD). No go.

For those attending, particularly if you are coming in from the south, remember EFD is August 5 - 7 and the the NASCAR Winston Cup race is at Watkins Glen on August 10th. Makes for some crowded roads and hotels in the region.

My son and I will be there! I'm sure he will love to drive all the CUT's! He is now cutting the lawn to help pay off the new paintball gun he just got! So now that he is an expert, he will have to give his evalueation of each model. See you around noon, unless its raining, then we will go the next day.

I'll try to get there.. its crazy at work and I'm getting married 10 days later, but I'll try.. Wednesday.. Hey, we got horse stall mats there at closing time, 4x6x3/4 for $32.. we saw a few other horse things.. I guess Equine Affair would be a better show for horse people, but there still is a lot at EFD.
Hope to see a lot of you TBNers there.

I almost died laughing last year when Miss NY Dairy, a very buxom blonde, bent forward and asked if I'd like some milk! Took me a couple of seconds to notice the little half-pint carton she was offering! /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

That and sharing the fair food with my TBN buddies were the highlights of the trip!
