Electronic ignition vs points for Bolens QT 16 with Onan engine?

Close friend has given me an older Bolens QT 16 for my heavy duty hauling around my massive garden and maybe a rototiller function, if I can find one, but it needs new points and I notice that the cam rod sensor is missing. Has anyone bypassed using the points with an electronic ignition like we have done with our little lawnmower engines.

Engine is an Onan Model 343M-GAD16/4254C SN E883379444

If electronic ignition is not possible, I can't seem to find the proper source for the points replacement with the ID numbers I have. If electronic is possible, where can I find it and what are the numbers.
