Does anyone know if Pertronics makes an electronic "breaker point and condenser replacement" for the Satoh 650G? Or, any other manufacturer? Please give mfr & model number if you know it. Also as the exisiting coil may need to be replaced, the model number of a coil matching the electronic ignition.

I recently installed the Pertronic electronic ingnition & coil in a 64 Ford F100, 292 V-8, which resulted in so much improvement in performance that I now want to do it to my Satoh.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Pertronix's catalog doesn't list anything directly for a Satoh. However, the distributor may be able to be cross referenced. I seem to remember reading somewhere that the Mazda engine was used in a forklift, too and that may be useful. I too am interested in adding this to my 650g so if you come across anything please post and I'll do the same.

I finally found a source of the Pertronix electronic ignition for the Satoh S650G.

It is Genesse Products,

The part # is MA-141.

It works!

That's great, I appreciate you passing the info on. How much of a difference does it make? How much was it.

The kit was 89.95. I did not need the coil. Installation was easy. Instructions were in the box. Runs good.

Thanks for the tip. I blew my points out again. Instead of going through that again I ordered the kit from Genese. I had to cut my wires and butt-splice them because the ring terminals wouldn't fit through the grommet hole. Maybe took 15 minutes.Would take about 5 the next time, 2 if I didn't have to wire the ballast resistor.

I never asked because I was a little leery of this and tried to go low budget because I try to keep expenses down. If genese had the flamethrower coil as the coil in their package I would have ordered it in hindsight. I had a coil with a lifetime warranty from a parts store. But the flame thrower has a built in resistor and extra power the more I read about it.

The man at Genese was very nice and I would recommend them again. Although I did find it a little cheaper on the web.

By the way, after I installed it I turned the key to start it and it started in like half a second. So quick it startled me. I was expecting to have to re time it, so I was very surprised that it is actually a perfect replacement to the factory points in every way.

All in all I'm very pleased and am glad you shared your post.

I talked to somebody at genesee and they told me they don't make an ignition for that distrubuter. How did you find out yours would work?

I simply called them. I called twice and both times they knew exactly which one they were speaking of. I don't know why he told you that. I'd call and ask again.
