Electricl Problem on Bolens

Voltage regulator or relay?I was jump starting my Bolens TS2220 And heard a mild single pop,like a light bulb might make.Now the starter want even grunt.All lights,horn,etc still working.I guess the voltage regulator or relay or what is the most likely cause?

Sounds like a short in the starter.
