Electric tongue jack

/ Electric tongue jack #2
They are very very nice on an RV but I can't say I've missed having one on my equipment trailer. They cost about 350$ which I think makes it not worth buying if your body is still capable of cranking the crank.

They're great unless they run on the trailer battery and it goes dead, then you can't go up or down.

The lightweight (1500lbs) and standard (2500lbs) models from Atwood have an optional handle for manual operation but you have to remove the motor cover. I believe the deluxe (2500lbs) and heavy-duty (3500lbs) models come with the handles and you don't need to remove the motor cover. You could also always jump it to your truck battery if your trailer battery went dead. Keep in mind that the motor is fused at 30 Amps.

They are very useful for other applications besides trailer tongues. Coupled with a lever system, you can use them to move or lift just about anything.

You can get them from Northern Tool for around $250.
