I had exactly the same thought. All that capacity in a mobile cart. I can use that! So, I just finished mine yesterday. I bought a male socket for the charger plug on the golf cart. (Safe access to hi amp 48v) Wired it to a 1000w “pure sine wave“ inverter, with a piece of old generator power cord. The golf cart charger port is labeled “20 amps”. Total cost was about $150 with amazon pieces.
I drilled two holes to hold some hose clamps for strain relief.
I trimmed the hedges last night using the golf cart headlights, and the inverter running the hedge trimmers. Everything worked perfectly.

Ok. Great idea using the charger port! Coming up with a quick connect solution has kept me from proceeding with it as I didn’t (or believe I shouldn't?) permanently install the inverter in the cart as it isn’t waterproof. I certainly didn’t want to be fumbling around in the dark with 48 volts. Thanks.

One question I don't understand. With my setup I have the inverter sitting on a plastic floor mat, on a golf cart with everything made of plastic except for the aluminum frame (Club Car). There's no obvious place to ground anything. I don't really want to get electrocuted with 120v. What's the right way to ground the "third prong" on the inverter?

frame of the club car, its the only path that can potentially electrocute you.
