Zareba is a brand of charges and rope wire that looks interesting at TSC.

We use 5 of the 16' cattle panels for temp grazing rings but that is a lot of work sliding them around so this year I was thinking of trying some temp fencing. As a kid we always used the steel wire with weed burning units.

Any thoughts on this brand? In the evening the horses would be penned near the house and fed some grain so they are eager to get to green grass then eager to get back for the grain so moving them is not a huge effort.

IMO the Zareba brand is good. I like their PRO stuff w/more joules. I currently use and am partial to Parmak brand. If putting in a field of course w/electricity far and if safe from thieves and zone would support it I'd think about a solar unit.

Heres outfit I purchase lots of stuff from : Electric Horse Fencing; Electric Horse Fence Supplies (btw don't have a horse in their race)

Now for big stuff when needed : Cyclops from Taylor Fence Inc P-- on that fence when Cyclops on duty and it will probably frie your w----r !!!!!!!!!!!

I know you probably know this but depending on what type of post (wood/steeL) you'll need correct insulators.

I also use some 8 ' copper clad ground rods.

This outfit here has lots of hard to find oddball stuff : Electric Supplies

Might also want to consider a lighting diverder , just some thoughts.

Don't know anything about that specific brand. So, I can't help on that.

I do know that electric fences can be very effective, MOST of the time. I have seen, on rare occasion, an animal walk through an electric fence. It just wouldn't stop them. I have also seen a couple of horses that it drove crazy. My neighbor had an electric fence up around some young trees. One of their horses would run up to the fence, stick his tongue to it, run a lap around the 14 acre pasture, then do it again. He had to turn the power off to keep the stupid horse from killing himself.

Years ago, we had two horses that we kept behind a single strand electric fence. One wire, about 30" off the ground. That's it. And, we only turned it on about once a month, just to "keep them honest." We could even leave the gap down over the driveway and they wouldn't go out. :D

Gale - - - Did Ya purchase anything yet ?

Clearance Running great prices in their clearance section. Might wanna check it out, free shipping over $75 bucks not includeding heavy wire spools. I went ahead at those prices and ordered some back up stuff to just have when needed.

I am leaning towards the 10 mile Zareba for $115.50 with free shipping.
