I bought a petsafe 10 acre system, have the plan, extra wire, read all the information here and elsewhere, on installation.
directions say 1-3" deep, Told a couple of guys at work about it, one guy says he had nothing but problems every spring with broken wires until he had it professionally done and they went 9" deep. He was talking about ground freezing and thawing breaking the wire? anyone here heard or had this happen to them? I was planning on using an electric edger and 300' of extension cord, and or my BB scarifier
to get the 3" trench.
If I go 9' deep, I can buy a subsoiler
I DONOT want to loose signal strength by going to deep
I could use the subsoiler before I till virgin ground on other projects
there is nothing in the manual about placing the wire to deep
I searched the web for a system that states a 9" depth on the wire and found nothing.
