Edge fined by EPA...

What a joke. If I had one I wouldn't let it go. The EPA is just a group of stupid clowns who have nothing better to do then make peoples lives miserable. They are the reason why diesel engines have so many issues now days (dpf, bad fuel economy, egr cooler...) and you need a doctors degree to do any work on them. The idiots who come up with these ideas probably haven't seen the problems they are causing to people who make a living with their trucks.

What about the other hundred company's that produce the same system? Are they getting fined to.

As far as I care if they say don't touch it or don't do something to it, I am only more likely to mess with it because I know they want to get what they want
(everyone driving electric cars). I will do whatever I please to my own vehicle, is only illegal if you get caught. Much like running off road diesel in your truck.
On the off road diesel note, where do they check the color of fuel at the tank of the ingectors?

They dip the tank. The MTO is now checking light duty trucks too. Be careful, not worth the fine.

I was told that they now can tell off road fuel with some kind of infra red "gun" on the exhaust. Anyone else heard this?

they dip the tank with a 'straw' and then compair to a chart.

my personal truk gets dipped on average, 1per year.. though has been 2 per year before.

whent hey show up at work.. everything with a tag that burns fuel oil gets dipepd.. personal or company. if you have a refuel tank in your bed to fuel up a tractor.. the look to see if it's hooked up as a '2nd' tnak on a switch.. :)

I am sure that every time they have checked you out everything was OK...
They will keep coming back...
Got to keep their jobs even though they are checking people they know are in compliance...
My son's father-in-law drives a truck for one of the local companies...
He gets checked for weight compliance once a month...
They know he is under his tagged weight and everything is in order...
It is a game...
I guess it makes their numbers look good...

About time. I have been wondering if someone had the balls to enforce the EPA regs.

That is what I thought!! Too many melonheads getting injectors fixed under warranty because of abuse from programmers.

Now the tables are turned!!

yep.. I don't run red in anything anymore.

too much a pita to go get it.. and no discount buying by the drum.. then I had to keep fuel up cans seperate.. cans for red.. cans for clear..e tc.

I , thus always pass. and yeah.. the fine is stiff.

a guy that works for us one time broke down on a job, DID put in a couple gallons of red to get to a store.. then fill up.. then got checked.

with a letter from him and us, they halved the fine and made it JUST a fine.. no other civil penalty.

I know back during the hurricanes when fuel was scarce.. a note went out that you could use red on road and then send in the tax retroactively.. i figure dthat would be inviting trouble thru enforcement later and just rationed my clear back then.

and now.. it's clear only.. tractor and truck..e tc..

Tractor gets the dyed fuel, but at $ 0.64 cheaper than the road fuel, it is worth it, and readily available.
