economy PTO

I know JD and MF (and perhaps others) advertise this feature but I've not seen it in any NH sales literature. I'm sure it must exist b/c I've seen a TL90 tach marked for a low RPM 540 setting. Does anyone know if it's standard or an option and is it still being offered in the TL series?

Thats too bad...thanx for your help!! Just curious though why NH uses a tach face which has a low RPM 540 marking on it for NA machines. The case I'm thinking of is a TL90 in Paris, TN (you can look it up on the NH used equipment search) which demonstartes this. It seems an economy PTO feature would be a good selling point given fuel prices esp. since it already in service else where.

What is an economy PTO?

The ability to run the engine at a low RPM but still have the PTO run at 540. Its used in applications where full power isn't required. The goal is to save fuel and reduce drive train wear.

Seems like running a machine that has 1000 rpm pto at approx 1/2 engine speed to achieve 540.
Sounds like a new "spin" on pto speeds.
It works, just gotta make sure you aren't lugging the tractor.

Apparently they use that tach in areas where they market economy PTO to folks that speak English. I don't question the display; I have seen plenty of them. NH simply does not market economy PTO in North America. Or at least they didn't 13 months ago when I left the dealership. Maybe they don't trust NA operators not to overspeed 540 rated implements.
