Eco Diesel

Today I priced a plain jane Tradesman with a 3.0L Eco Diesel on the Ram Site at about 28K. I realize that is a stripped down version but I'm interested if anybody has priced them in the real world? I know we have a few TBN'ers that will pick one up and post back.

FYI this was for a 4x2 8' bed, which in my opinion makes for a great work truck.

I'm betting if you ordered right now you wouldn't get much of a discount. I also suspect if you tried to find one like you want it would be tough, I suspect most of the ones that are being ordered by dealers are loaded to run up the sticker price. I think one would make a great work truck.

Well, point being that if you could ( and I assume that you would be able to order any truck you wanted) order this truck you could drive off with a Tradesman single cab long bed truck with a 3.0L Eco Diesel for under 30K. Assuming also that you added 10K in options (not hard to do) you could have a very nicely equipped Dodge Diesel truck for 40K (about what I paid for my Ford XLT).

From what I've been reading on other forums you can't order regular cab 2wd 8' box with ecodiesel yet. Something about those trucks being made in mexico? Sounds like so far can only get 4 door trucks made in MI with ecodiesel. There are stories of pretty impressive prices and about 25+ mpg. I'd love to get one but probably have to wait 1 or 2 years. Search for ram 1500 diesel forum on line; there is a lot of good info out there

I checked cars.com. The least expensive one is $29,077.
New RAM 1500 - in 22625 Area - on Cars.com

You could get into a base model F-150 with a 3.7 V6 for $17,995. It would get close to the same MPG's as the ecodeisel for way less.
