I have narrowed down the choice of a new string trimmer to possibly the Echo 2620. Does anyone have direct experience with both models, the 2620 and the 2620T? The T specs say it has more torque, though both have the same 25.4 cc's.
The person using this weedeater is not tall, so do not want to get a unit that is too heavy or long.
If I can find one locally, I will probably go with the 2620T.

Mines a PAS266 which is the older engine version of the 2620, same size engine at 25.4cc. I know yours's isn't the powerhead with accessories, a trimmer only.
If the higher torque uses the same engine it'd have to be the head gearing (I'd think) so it probably has a slower rotation to give you higher torque.
The trimmer head on mine is a higher toque and it works great, more than enough power to use string or a blade.
I'm 5'-9" and it's just the right length for me but it's not light

I have the echo straight shaft with the bicycle handlebars and the over the shoulder harness. I bought the one with the metal drive shaft, not the spring wound one. it replaced a Stihl FS66 straight shaft I've had for decades. Quite happy with it and I usually have the scratcher blade on it, not string though the Stihl tri-cut head fits the Echo as well. Think mine is 34cc, I think.

"slower rotation to give you higher torque" Yes, that is correct.
