Ever have one of those feelings after you won an auction?... kinda like elated then a little sick to your stomach! Well had one of those this morning. Kinda had my eye on this little beauty and just forgot I had a really low snipe offer on it.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=300017645103&ru=http%3A%2F%2Fsearch.ebay.com%3A80%2Fsearch%2Fsearch.dll%3Ffrom%3DR40%26satitle%3D300017645103%26fvi%3D1

Well low and behold I won it and now I gotta do something with it! The original idea (I guess) was to take enough out of it to make a small run in shed on my property. Now that I look at it though, the thing is huge and it will be quite a haul for me (about an hour & 1/2) to get down there to pull it apart. I guess the real problem is that I don't have the time to really do it right, starting at the top and pulling the tin off and then come from the rafters down. The other problem is no electric or tractor loader to help with the process.

I had an idea that if someone from TBN in the Waldorf, MD area with a front end loader wanted to take this sucker down and help me load it up, I would be willing to split the lumber 50/50. If anyone is interested just drop me a line...and do it quick before my wife finds out I have a new project!

Why does she always think you should finish one thing before moving on to the next? isn't it more fun in life to have a variety of uncompleted things rather than neat little projects finished one at a time?

Barn is in Waldorf, MD not far from La Plata. I am on the upper eastern shore about 1 1/2 hours NE. I have a 25' trailer and a pickup truck. Probably can't even fit half of the lumber from this thing and I'm only making the trip once!

If anyone is interested the property owner tells me there are also several out buildings on the property that go with the deal. He describes them as sharecropper shacks. If you have a big enough trailer and you're not too far away you might be able to move these complete. Hope this sweetens the deal for someone out there! My wife is giving me funny looks... she knows I did something wrong, just hasn't mustard the courage to asked yet.

Wow! What a great buy. I sure wish is was in a position to help you. I hope even more the lumber you don't get doesn't end up getting burned or hauled to a landfill. There just isn't stuff like that availiable anymore. With so many outfits milling old barn beams into flooring, etc. I am surprised that there weren't more bidders and that the price wasn't higher!

How do you want to take the barn down?.

Well I guess the easiest and quickest way possible! I am not personally looking to get more out of it than enough lumber to build a 32' X 16' run in shed. It would be nice to have enough tin to cover the walls (doubt it wil be good enough to do the roof again). If someone wanted to be really carefull with it, I don't see why you couldn't salvage 90% of the lumber and nearly all of the tin.

Why do you have something in mind? If you are in Northern St. Mary's, thats not far away at all. PM me if you're toying with the idea. Maybe we could meet sometime in the next couple of weeks down at the property. Kinda interested to see what all I bought!

You stole that building. Just be careful taking it down. There surely is a ton of lumber in that building. The roofing alone if salvaged is well worth the cost.

How do you know the seller actually owns the building?

It would suck to get there and start demolition and have the real owner show up with the sherrif.
