With the mower deck installed on my 4210, there is very little room under the engine to fit any decent size oil pan, only a very shallow and small capacity pan would fit...nothing that would hold a gallon of old oil. A long section of PVC rain gutter with an end cap cemented on works great as a draining trough, and a second section notched out to fit under the side-mounted oil filter on the Yanmar keeps old oil from dripping down when I remove the filter, instead it flows into the drain pan.

I've used a piece of folded cardboard before. Made it into a v and the oil runs down it into a pan.

I've used a piece of folded cardboard before. Made it into a v and the oil runs down it into a pan.

That would work well as long as the oil didn't seep thru the cardboard. I should have mentioned in the original post that it's a good idea to get the gutter section up as far as possible toward the drain plug so the initial gush of oil doesn't splash over the sides.

Alright so I see the video.. and I am convinced that this is the best thing since sliced bread, and then track one down, to buy it and holy cow!. they want 25 bucks for one..I was prepared to maybe pay 10 bucks, but 25? I guess I am just a cheapskate.:irked:

Form A funnel is awesome according to guys I talked to. Im getting one whenever I get to a retailer who has one. Yes it's expensive. Its also made in USA. Im sure they could make it in china for 1/2 but I for one am more than happy to support a manufacturer who is committed to North American manufacturing.
