Easy Come...Not So Easy Go

Just got my BX2230 this past Saturday. Everything was fine until Sunday morning when a big puddle of hydraulic fluid was on the floor of my garage. Checked the tranny dipstick...bone dry. 3 total hours of operation, and the dealer picked it up today. What a kick in the butt this is!

I spend all this time researching and I wind up with a lemon. I suspect it is just loose hydraulic connections, but it still just sucks. Worried now that more harm was done to the tranny than I will know about. Dealer was great though...came by and picked it up without hesitation. At least I know I bought from the right dealer.

Is the BX similar in design to the B7500? If so that stick could be dry, while there is still a large load of fluid in the tractor. Check the tranny capacity in your manual and guage it to the puddle on the floor.

It is discouraging to have a problem with a brand new piece of equipment so I understand how you feel, but don't let it get you down. I had a couple of small hydraulic leaks on the FEL on my B7510 when it was new. A couple of wrenches and 2 minutes cleared them up.

I suspect it is some hose that was not tightened properly and should be a quick fix so you can get back to work soon.

True...I highly doubt that those 2.5 quarts are on the floor or on the inside of the tire, but it was a mess. Thanks for the encouragement and that is why I bought new, the dealer will fix it.

However, this downtime is allowing me to understand the need for that machine and to read all of my manuals!

You are working the bugs out of a nice machine. Once these bugs are fixed then I suspect you can get a long life out of it. Same with most mechanical purchases in that if it is ever going to break, it will break right away.

I lurked around here for a long time, just learning what I could. Bought the B7500 from a TBN member that was moving. Before I bought, I was able to read his past posts, learned why he decided on the B7500. Read about what he was doing with the tractor (and saw pictures.)

Dropped the tractor off at the dealer for the 50 hour service before bringing it home.

When I started using it, the 3 point lift stopped working within a few hours of my use.

I started posting SOS messages here.

Dealer tore it open and repaired it under warranty. That was the last mechanical problem my B7500 had.

I am right there with you. I have less than 2 hours of seat time on my 7610 and am about to lose it to the dealer for repairs. I too saw a small puddle (1 or 2 drops per minute, only while the engine is running) of hydro fluid under the tractor while I was showing it off to my neighbor (who also owns a Kubota). After a couple of "Hey, where is that coming from?", I called the dealer and he is picking it up on Friday. I believe the service guys exact words were "We need to come pick it up so that we can do what we have to to make it right".

While I am disappointed to be without for several days, I am glad the dealer is taking care of the situation.

It's called separation anxiety! Got her back today!!! Pretty fast turnaround by my dealer and I am impressed! Great dealer no problem picking it up, turning it around and dropping it off. All in a matter of 24 hours.

Just a bad connection on the hydraulic link from the transmission. A bad nipple connection is all. I figured it was minor, but I certainly appreciated the dealer taking care of it so fast. Just checked all the fluids and topped off the diesel. After I watch Star Wars III tomorrow with my son, I am hoping on that machine for a little quality time. I love spring in the Rockies...you can work until 8:00 no problem.

BTW, if you are on this board and from Colorado, go see B&G Equipment in Ft. Collins. From purchase to this minor issue, (and it was minor...if there was no warranty, it would have taken about 30 minutes to get to the issue...well...probably triple for the beginner) they have been great all they way.

I'm glad to see things worked out so well. Did they show you exactly where the leaks were so that you can check these areas from time to time?

No...he dropped it off when I was at work. If I notice any more fluid, and I haven't, I will give them a call. It happened around the hydraulic manifold, my words, on the rear of the Kubota next to transmission. It should be no problem in the future taking care of it myself. He said it was a quick fix.

Well, the man just picked up my tractor. While the leaking (hydro?) fluid problem appears to be minor, the tractor kept stalling as he was attempting to drive it out of my garage. I know that the service dept is the place for the tractor to go but I can't help but be concerned that a possible new problem has developed. I have put less than 2 hours on the tractor! Anyone else ever had this happen to them?

<font color="orange">The tranny on my BX23 holds 12 quarts and the engine oil takes 3.5 quarts. </font>

My manual is quite a bit off on these specs.

I'm not sure if anyone's interested but here is the update to my tractor situation. The dealer put a new seal kit on the BH, the other apparent leak under the tractor itself (which kept evaporating) was water, and the stalling problem was due to a faulty switch under the seat that engages when the rear pto is on.

I got her back on Saturday and hope to start work on several projects over the next few days.

Where was the water leak? and keep a close watch on those repairs. Seems like the dealer had it for about 10 days, why so long?

I was told that water was leaking from behind some rubber sleeves after the underside of the tractor was pressure washed at the dealer. He said that that was common. The 10 day wait was due to having to wait for the seal kit to be delivered to the dealer and the tractor to be delivered to my house (I am about 1-2 hours from the dealer, depending on ferry traffic).
