Exactly.Yep. According to Duromax at 50% load this consumes 1.35 gal of propane per hour. Assuming you could use all 400 gal in the tank that is 296 hours or just over 12 days of continuous use. Of course lots of scenarios where continuous use is necessary and lots where it is not.
Run to charge the battery bank and to run the well pump to fill a 500-gallon tank. Then off for 10 hours at a time.
The newest type of smart battery chargers don't have high loads. Charging in 24V pairs also cuts down the charge time.
The 30A chargers from solar and/or wind or when the grid is up does extend the genset too.
Not running AC nor heating from the genset is a huge bonus for lasting longer than usual.
The late 1990s ice storm in Toronto had people without power for 14 weeks plus. TX just went thru an ordeal too. The long lines at filling stations would not save them at the last moment. I've already had my fair share of storms.
Propane or NG are 2 strong solutions worth considering.
