Duramax and Allison tranny

I posted a while back about getting a Chevy Duramax. I think I am ready to take the plunge and buy one. I looked at one today and have made the deal but I was wondering if all Duramax trucks have the Allison as standard equipment. I looked at the truck on the net when I got home and there is no mention of an Allison transmition. I won't be able to check with the dealer on that until Monday. I had to drive a 120 miles to find a low mileage 05. Most I was finding close to home were new or high mileage. I am pretty excited about this one. It is GM certified and I will pick it up next week if I decide to buy it.They are holding it for me. If it does not have the Allison I may back away from it.

If it has a Duramax it will have a Allison or 6sp manual ZF tranny, that is the only way they have come since 01.

That was quick. I thought maybe it was standard but I wasn't sure. I knew I could count on someone to know on here. Thanks for the quick reply.

Looked at a friends 2004 and it has the same setup.

Go to The Diesel Page for the 6.2L, 6.5L, and Duramax 6600 (6.6L) GM Chevrolet and GMC diesel engines. for everything you wanted to know about the GM light truck diesels. Lots of good info there. I have a 6.5L and wish I could afford a Duramax right now.
