I will be using an Equal-i-zer 4-point Sway Control Hitch on my 7K dump trailer. Do I need to disconnect anything from the WD hitch prior to dumping?

If thereç—´ a hydraulic pump, I disconnect the electrical chord from the truck to the trailer to isolate the trailer battery.

I don稚 know why you would need to disconnect from the truck, regarding the trailer ball.

Pics of the trailer might help.

Why would you bother doing that? The 2 problems I see is besides a lot of work is you can’t dump much of a load without moving the trailer forward and the load tends to shove the trailer forward.

Did you mean to quote me, or the OP?

Folks: I am talking about the WD hitch and nothing else. Can I dump the dump trailer with the WD hitch fully attached? Do I have to disconnect any component like the torsion arms?

Sorry, I meant I disconnect the electrical plug only, not the rest of the trailer. Got sidetracked, while typing.

OP, no, you don’t need to disconnect any part of the hitch. After you dump the load, the tension may need adjusted, but it should dump fine.

I’m curious, why are you using a WD hitch on such a light duty trailer?

My Tundra manual states that if I exceed 500 TW a WD hitch must be used. I have a 2013 Tundra with the tow package. Max. tow weight of 8200lb. The truck has the small 4.6liter V8. The 6X10 7K dump trailer weighs 2000 lbs. unloaded. Max load is 4500 lbs.
