I've been wanting to make some wooden sides for my dump trailer. I've got the stake pockets but I'm not sure if I should but the boards on the inside of the stake pockets or the outsides. Does anyone have pics of their's that they'd care to share? I'm going to make them out of PT for sure.

I would put the vertical boards that go in the stake pockets outside the horizontal boards.

X2, this will let the dumped material slide out along a smooth surface without any verticle ridges to trap mulch, firewood, gravel, mud ,etc.

I put my 'stakes' on the inside, just because I thought it looked better. I've never had a problem dumping anything with the boards this way.

I agree with Ryan03 Diamondpilot. I put my boards on the inside so that soil clay etc.. would not get stuck. I have hauled a lot of clay{well over 100loads} and am very glad I did the boards this way. Some soils will stick to just about anything so why make it worse?

Ductape: I like your trailer and also notice your sides are metal part way up maybe that's why yours doesn't have issues with sticking material???

Thanks to ductape for the visual. Does anyone have a pic of the boards on the inside?

Put the verticals on the outside if you can. Not only will the inside of the wooden sides shed dirt easier, but when you really load the trailer up high & tight with packed material, the horizontal members won't pop off the vertical supports.

Greatwhitehunter, not being smart but if you if you will pull into a parking lot with dump trucks that are used you probably will see their set up or farmer's grain trucks. I think you will only find the vertical stakes on the outside for reasons given. This way you can see it fully.
