Looking to purchase a dump trailer for light hauling. The one I am looking at is a 6x10 with over 3000 lbs capacity. It only has 11 gauge steel for the deck and sides. I was wondering if it would be ok to use to haul my X595, which weighs about 1200 lbs. Obviously weight wise it's fine. I'm just concerned about the 11 gauge steel deck. Thanks

11 gauge is 1/8". Pretty thin. What we don't know is how far apart the supports are. I would think it flex quite a bit and end up distorting the bottom of the trailer.

If this is what you want - I would lay down a strip of thicker steel along each tire path. Another 11 gauge would give you a 1/4" total thickness - which would be more than sufficient - IMHO. Either tack it in place, or bolt it down if you ever wanted to remove it.

My two cents.

Well, I don't know exactly how thick the floor is on my 6X10 Bri-Mar dump...... but I can't imagine it is much thicker than that. I move my B3030 in it with no problem. I can't imagine you'd have a problem with your JD.

If you have any flex between the supports, just throw a sheet of plywood in the trailer before you drive your tractor up in there.

Thanks guys, I get the idea. As long as I build up the deck, or plate it, I should be fine. Thanks again

Drive it up there and see what happens.

It's only about 300 lbs per tire. Or you could go stand in there on about one square foot with a friend and see if the floor flexes to an unacceptable amount. It won't. That would be a load of about 300-400 lbs per sq ft depending on your weight.

The floor in mine is about the same and I drove my tractor in. It has about 2,000 lbs on each rear tire with the backhoe on. The only problem was the interior length.

You also need to consider the force applied as the trailer is motoring down the road, in and out of chuckholes, etc. The down force would be substantially more than a a static load.

I was more concerned with long term damage to the floor of the dump trailer. To each his own. If I had a dump trailer I sure wouldn't want the bottom all sway backed.

Since you can't haul your tractor and a load at the same time, make yourself some sideboards and use them to park your tractor on when you trailer.
