Dump body hoist issue

/ Dump body hoist issue #12
Red Horse,

As a young man, I drove one similar to that. It ALWAYS leaked a bit. Not enough to make a HUGE mess, but would leak about an ounce a year. We just dealt with it by putting a little saw dust or floor dry under it if it was going to sit more than a couple days. At that time, we talked to dealer about rebuilding the cylinder and he said that it MIGHT get fixed and might NOT, or may even leak a bit MORE after being done. Just a problem with type cylinder. :(

If it were ME, I'd just try to deal with it, UNLESS the lead got to be more than a couple ounces a year. :2cents: Good luck.

Dave

I agree with Pepsiboy.....those cylinders had rope packings under the rod gland, not the idea seal but if kept the oil from dripping out under it's own weight
However another layer of rope packing can be added under the threaded gland nut without taking the cylinder apart....may be worth trying
