Dumb question re Ford filler

Hi All

I know the Ford 6000 attracts mostly criticism, but I acquired one recently from a "good home" and it goes really well.

The I&T service manual is not especially useful because the simple maintenance stuff is not covered. My question is - what is the filler adjacent to the injector pump? It has a radiator cap on it but I'm inclined to think it might be the main oil filler for the sump. Please see picture and advise please

Looks pretty much like a timing cover fill port like most of the other large ford engines to me.. like the 7xxx series..

I think it is the oil fill(not positive). I am guessing they lost the origional cap and that is all they could find to fit it.

thats where the oil fill cap is on our F2600,, goes straight down the timming cover..

I agree that it must be an oil filler so I'm glad I did not believe what is written on the cap and fill it with water!

Here is a picture of the beast. It had been in the same family for over 30 years and has done about 6000 hours without ever letting them down. I had purchased a 1948 model Fordson Major in pretty poor condition that was at the repair shop for some work, when a guy who restores tractors saw and wanted it. Across the creek from me was the guy who owned the 6000 that was too big for his needs. A three-way swap meant he got a TEA20 and I got the 6000 for the price of a new slasher, so I thought this was a pretty neat deal. great work has already been done clearing some fire-hazard scrub and grading thproperty. I'll tart it up with some new paint sometime in the future.
