Hi,

Completely ignorant here other than reading the following article which seemed very informative: Haying FAQ

I'll be dozing a few acres of low value timber and brush (in NE Ohio) to open up a field that I'm going to use to make hay or just lease to local farmer for crops. If I go the haying route...

1. What is meant by "running gear" and what advantages are provided (for my very small scale) over say taking a mobile home frame and axles that I have available for free and converting to hay wagon? I'll be pulling with 34HP Kubota w/ FEL and loaded tires over mostly flat terrain.

2. If that mobile home conversion is even a good idea, anyone have link to plans or pics?

3. If not, how can I judge a good/fair deal on a used wagon?

Thanks!

Lets get a bit more info. Are you going to small square or round bale your hay, how many is a few acres.

Yes you can haul hay on a trailer made from a mobile home but with more info will be better able to give good answer.

Sorry Ed, small square and am open to any type of planting.
By few I meant pretty small...3 acres max for right now, possibly expand to 7 or 8 acres in the future.

For that acreage you don't need a bale wagon.
