Ducks in your pond

I have three ponds on my place, the newest was built 5 years ago and is between the house and shop. My driveway runs across the dam. Before it was even finished, the wife started saying how nice it would be to have some ducks swimming around.

Not really wanting to deal with all the potential problems, I told her that our dogs wouldn't agree. Well, it wasn't long before she came home after a day at the yard sales with 6 duck decoys.

Now that's the prefect everyday duck. When the wind blows they move around, so they look like they are swimming, no mess, you don't have to feed them, and you don't have to worry about anything eating them.

LOL, we had a neighor comment on how pretty our ducks where and asked how we managed to keep something from getting them. They were surprised to learn that they are fake.

I put a duck decoy in a plastic wading pool. One day it was gone. Several months later I found it in the forest about 200 feet away. It had several tooth punctures, about coyote or raccoon size.
