There's a number of things that make those little Perkins so attractive. One is the don't USUALLY need much in the way of major repairs. (unless someone is ether happy) Two is when they do need a major, the kit is hands down the cheapest engine on earth in it's class to buy parts for.

Those pistons look like they rode out a major volcano eruption

And if you ever decide to remove the ROPS structure, put an airmail stamp on it and send it my way! I sure wish those were available in the US. One needs to be on my 150

Pulled out the cylinder linings today, using the extractor "I" made the other day.
It worked great!

These linings are "dry", cavitation cant occur.

Please keep us updated. I'm learning a lot. I've never witnessed first hand a diesel re-build before.

pack the new liners in dry ice and they should slide right in, we would put a old bulb style drop lamp in the cylinder to give it just a little heat before we put the liners in. worked great for years

Liquid oxygen or nitrogen works good too. I would not use it in an enclosed area though.

I think I will try dry ice!
I have been told that if you re grind the valves and valve seat you need to grind the top as well, just to make up for the increased compression room when the valves and seats are grinded further into the top.
A friend working for Massey Ferguson told me this. A new overhauled motor was hard to start due to less compression after valve grinding. Grinding the top solved the problem. Anybody else heard if this?
