This afternoon I went to hook up my SQ720 to my Ford 3930 tractor and everything hooked up as normal until I got to connecting the SQ720 driveline shaft to the tractor PTO. It took an incredible amount of pulling to get the driveline shaft to inch up to the PTO. I finally gave up and called a dealer and talked to mechanic. He said to take the collars off, separate the shaft, and wire brush, then grease. Well I had no wire brush so I was able to get collars off and proceeded to clean off the old grease. I found a label had been left on the male end that figured that was what had "clogged" the works. So anyway, I removed the label and adhesive and greased the male end of shaft. Still almost impossible to slide these two parts - which used to be easy.
According to SQ720 manual, the inside of female shaft is supposed to get the medium duty grease. I see possibly buying extremely small wire brush, duct taping to metal rod and wire brushing inside of female shaft?
Any help appreciated.
