Hi,
I have a woods BB60 on a Kubota L3400. The other day I was mowing and the shear bolt came out of the shaft. It didn't shear. As a matter of fact, the bolt was in perfect condition and I am able to reuse it.
My problem is that the PTO shaft came forward about the width of the bolt and I can not seem to get it to slide back to replace the shear bolt. There is a slip clutch on the unit.
I have tried to drive it back with a sledge, but it doesn't budge. I soaked it with WD-40.
I am at a loss.
THANKS in advance for any suggestions.
Jim

The last time I had a tough one to deal with I put a large pipe wrench on it so that I could get a good hit on it. Sometimes it takes a lot of preserverance and persuasion.

I would try and take it completely off and see if I could tell why it will not slide back on.

I agree, I would already have put this driveline in a large vise to work on it. Not a good idea to put strain on the tractor pto shaft if avoidable.

Sounds like it may have spun enuf to cause a gall/spot weld. With lots of lube on the joint see if you can rotate it back and forth against engaged driveline resistance. If not try a very quick brief engagement of the pto. Hopefully itll spin free.

... the bearings will all thank you if you take the shaft off of the tractor & the implement before commencing to wail on it.

When you do get it separated, drill and tap a grease zerk on your yoke so the next time it shears, you will have a greased surface for the yoke to spin on.

Ounce of prevention.
