I put together my new Farm Pro (Jinma) chipper last weekend. The drive shaft that goes to the tractor has one of those two piece chains on it that attaches to the plastic covers. I know I should know this, but I don't really, I have only just assumed that it is there to keep the shafts from coming apart when removing, etc. Is it supposed to stay on when shaft is running? If so, do you adjust it out to where it is at its longest stretch depending upon the height of the implement and clip together? If so, even then it flops around as the shaft spins, which does not seem safe. Educate me please.

They're simply to keep the PVC shaft housings from spinning with the shaft. Hook one up anywhere handy - around the toplink for example - just to stop the parasitic spinning action. Take the other one off and hang onto it for a spare, or to use if for some reasons both halves of the housing decide to spin independently.
