Thanks all.

Riptides,

Removing a slab?

Trying to get drains under/in poured concrete. The concrete is 100 years old, very thick, very hard. LOL. Just trying to get some foundation supports for a wall took days. No rebar anywhere.

Riptides,

post a photo.

Years ago, I used a jackhammer to remove an old slab footer combo. There was some steel, but not what you think of. I found old wrenches and other steel iron junk. None of it helped build strength. Did you put steel in it?, yup"

One time I found a 30+ year old newspaper wrapped in plastic under a slab.

... The rest of the basement is work shops. I have a "wet" stone carving room, 16 by 50 ft wood shop and my wife's glass/jewelry shop
You just keep getting more and more interesting!!! What is a "wet" stone carving room? What are you creating? Your wife sounds interesting too. Any pics of her glass and jewelry?

I've done a little wood carving and I've always wondered about shaping rocks into something interesting, but never seem to have to the time to do anything like that anymore.

high Eddie,

My wet stone carving area is a mainly a 4 x 8ft steel table frame with a roof rubber tub below. From there a drain to a 5 gal bucket, then to an outside gray water drain. The bucket catches most of the solids. On the table I have converted a 10 in Craftsmen Radial arm saw to a 12 inch diamond saw. Water line with flex tub mean zero dust. On this same table I use angle grinders with water feeds as well, mostly dust free. An old Craftsmen drill press use for wet drilling, wet core drilling.

First one is my wife's glass/metal work, 5 in square

I really admire your skill and imagination!!!! Have you made any youtube videos? All of my thoughts on rock carving would be for decorating the yard and maybe in random places on my land.

Cool. Talent too.

I believe one can never have enough hardscape or stone work.
