Somewhere in my bush hogging my drawbar decided to jump ship, er tractor. Hopefully I can find it. I'll jump on my ATV and cruise the hillside lookin' over the last couple of hours of where I worked.
Heck it may have run away in the first 2-3 hours of bush hogging and somewhere on 5 acres of hillside.
No I didn't have a pin holding the drawbar pin in place.. So I'm stupid, but it'd never had one to begin with.

If you have access to a metal detector you could sweep the area mowed and probably find it.

If you don't find it now you surely will the next time you bushhog>

Just leave the mower out in the field. The drawbar will find it and be mysteriously drawn to it.

At least that's what happens to anything metallic anywhere around whenever I mow /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

You might want to adjust your deck a tad higher if you don't find the draw bar. /w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif

I am confused. Why use the ATV when you could get some more quality time on the tractor? You would also have a much higher vantage point to search from. :)

If you have a yard rake you could use that also.

Foolproof method for finding drawbar

Equipment needed:

Self-propelled lawnmower (preffered)
Push mower if self-propelled not available
Safety Glasses

Apply lawnmower to area traveled. Listen for loud noises or mower stops or dies. Check under lawnmower if the above occurs. If object is not drawbar resume procedure until desired object is found.

Optional Equipment:
Walkman (procedure may take a while for desired success)
Spare lawnmower blades
Plenty of cool beverages

This method has been successfully proven in finding my kids toys, tools they used that were missing. etc.
Mike

P.S. This suggestion is definitely not a serious one. It is a feeble attempt at humor it's been one those days!!!!!

The ATV will cover the ground a whole lot faster, where the drawbar is located is up and down territory on the 'Bota.

I CAN RELATE. I LOST MY 2" BALL WILL MOWING 3 ACRES. HAD WIFE AND KIDS WALKING AROUND LOOKING. WE DID FIND THE BALL BUT NOT THE BOLT. WALKED OVER IT TWICE BEFORE FINDING IT. A DRAWBAR IS GOING TO BE HEAVY AND PROBABLY UNDER THE GRASS. GO THE OPPOSIT WAY YOU MOWED TO LOOK. IF YOU HAVE SOMEONE TO DRIVE THE TRACTOR, YOU COULD STAND ON THE BACK WITH A LAWNRACK TO PULL BEHIND. WILL TAKE SOME TIME, BUT WHAT BETTER WAY TO SEND IT THAN ON THE TRACTOR. TIME IS EASYER THEN MONEY.
GOOD LUCK

Saturday evening I rode the ATV over a lot of the area were I hoped to find my drawbar but it wasn't to be found. That was good hour of riding. I'll do it once or twice more, maybe as the green stuff starts to die off it'll be eaiser to find but I doubt it.
