I have a 4" pvc drainage pipe leak at a joint between the pipe and a fitting. It has not leaked for 10 years but I think after 10 years of the washing machine bouncing around when it spins and is not balanced has caused the pipe somehow to start leaking. The joint is right under the floor that the washing machine is on (pipe is under basement ceiling). the joint is very accessable. I'm looking for a sealant kind of fix rather than a replumb kind of fix. Epoxy? Primer and pvc solvent? I was the original installer. The fitting is a y fitting with 4" coming from the WC and 2" from up the line.

I used some of this stuff (bought from Lowes) to patch a leaking hot water pipe and it's held up for over a year now. It's a hot, pressurized pipe so it's probably much worse conditions than a low-pressure drain pipe but it's also possible the heat helps keep it sealed.

I tried to recreate the leak with no luck. It turns out that the drain pipe if fine...it was just wet in that spot because water dripped onto it from elsewhere. the elsewhere is the washing machine. not sure what happened there but must be something to do with the washing machine's own drain pipe. after some lunch I'm gonna run it and watch the drain.
btw...both my wife and I hate this washing machine. if it died no one would cry.
