Also how much oil did you put in compared to max capacity?

Does that means the engine turns with the starter but does not fire?

In your first post, are you saying the engine shut off by itself before you could turn the key off?

Correct.

About 8 quarts, I pulled the second plug to get a match and it drained about a quart when I did that.
