John Deere 2305
Need to plant grass seed and work it in. Need to spread horse droppings in the fields. Need to overseed about five acres of lawn and work it in. Will be pulling with a John Deere 2305. I have seen the Tractor Supply 4 X 4 with an attractive price but I think it may be too small, but then my Frontier brush hog in only 48" and does OK field mowing.

Would appreciate recommendations on products and size.

Your 2305 should be able to handle a normal size section harrow, most of these that Deere use to offer were about 10' wide x 5' deep IIRC. I built my own 3PH section harrow and have used it behind my x749. This is 8' wide with about 60 spike teeth on it. You can buy lots of drag harrows that will work for your tractor just depends on the ground you will be pulling it over, lots of heavy vegetation and you would be advised to go smaller in size. A 4x8' should be about right for you in pasture conditions.

Good advice, thanks. My small farm has lots of steep hills with about nine acres of pastures and four or five acres of lawn. I need to use the 4X4 function on the steeper sections when I mow so I will have to keep the size of the drag down so that I can pull it up the steeper sections. I thinks because of the variations in the terrain, I will look for a tow behind rather than a three point hitch version. You home brew project looks pretty.
