ANY ONE HAVE A DR BRUSH MOWER. IM THINKING OF GETTING ONE TO CUT ON SEVERE SLOPES THICK WOODED AREAS. WOULD LIKE TO BUY A USED ONE BUT NEVER SEEN ONE FOR SALE

I have had several DRs in the past and currently have the 17 hp Commercial model. I use it to mow weeds and tall grass on ditch banks and rough slopes. It is rated to 25 degrees. I have had no problems at all and can recommend it.

I bought one 15HP model used (but never used - gov't procurement!) from local lawn/ATV & snowmobile shop. They took it in trade for other stuff. I concur with other observations & abused mine mowing 100% slopes, rough bottoms & swampy areas where a tractor/hog could not go. It definitely is exercise keeping up with the machine, operator quits before the machine does.

I also have the 17HP commercial model. I use it to cut gullies and ditch banks. It can be a workout keeping up with the machine but I have learned to choose lower speed gears for a little less strenuous operation. If the mower can run over something the mower will cut it down. Country Home has a six month no questions asked return policy. So I guess you could try one out and see if it works for you. Good Luck

FIRST TIME I CHECKED THE COMMERCIAL MOWER WAS $1900 APPROX. NOW IT IS $2600 AND THAT IS WITH $240 DISCOUNT.

I own a DR which I bought to make paths thru my property and mow around the pond banks. I also bought the finish mower deck attatchment which I use to mow the lawn.
The mower does a good job and will mostly mow down anything form tall weeds to small saplings. It is fairly manueverable and light weight. The down side is I go through several sets of belts each year. The machine seems to eat them up. Also it is built light weight therefore it wont last your life time. I've had to have things welded on that broke from stress.
My recommendation is to buy a used Gravely. They were made from the 1940's until the '70's. Check ebay- they sell for under $500. I have my grandfathers old gravely and I well be able to pass it on to my grand kids. It is one tough machine! No belts! Gravelys are known for being over engineered and over built. It will mow down twice the weeds that the DR will, plus I have the snow blower attatchment that really throws snow. The only down side to the gravely is that it is not as good on slopes because it is so heavy.

I have the DR 15 horsepower and use it for mowing brush in ditches and woods on the back side of property, also bought the lawn mowing deck to mow about an acre of grass with steep slopes. I have no trouble with belts or brake downs, the machine never quits. I get tired before it does. I don't think there is a better machine. I looked for about year before buying the DR.
