I have a 2518 and plow a 500 foot driveway. I filled the rear wheels with windsheild fluid for weight instead of wheel weights. You will also need tire chains. I also have a snowblower but I can do driveway quicker with plow.
I have a 16'' square carry all that I lay a filled 12'' cement block on which gives me all the weight I need on the 1966 and 1967 Bolens Tractors. The cary all attaches to the rear of the tractor frame with 2 hitch pins with clips. A 2 or 3 minute job to install or remove.I made the chains from chains i got free that were for a car.

I think a blade would be a better than a snow blower at least for me. I have a very long drive. I don't think we have ever had enough deep snow here to justify the purchase of a snow blower. I would get more use with the blade.
I have the Ag tires so are chains necessary? I know the wheel weight would be needed but not sure about chains with the ag tires?
I'm wanting to try something a little different with My CC 2554 with Ag Tires and no chains or extra weight.

Micman, I recently purchased a plow for my 2544. Below is a quote of my post on another forum:

"I used the blade yesterday to spread about 4 yards of gravel over my lower driveway. It went much better than I expected, and the blade didn't trip under the load. I later tested the blade against a protruding rock to make sure it would trip when appropriate, and it did. No damage other than a very small scratch (I went really slow). The blade is very stout, much thicker than the blade for the 1000/1500's. Plus it has those reinforcing ribs on the back. Raising and lowering both require only a little effort. I raised and lowered the blade probably 40+ times while spreading the gravel, and it didn't tire me out at all. swinging the blade left to right was effortless as well. Presumably that'll be dependant on how well the pivot point stays lubricated. Below are pictures showing some detail of the blade."

BTW, the dealer put the wrong stickers on when he replaced the hood, hence the "2542" on my 2544.

I suppose you have a lot of time to kill. Plowing snow without chains and weights = unhappy owner

I think the tiller would be more than enough weight.
The 12 inch cement block with the holes filled with concrete has always been more than enough extra weight on the ole 1966 Bolens 650 to plow snow and dirt.
I do beleive the CC tiller is considerably heavier than the 12 inch concrete block.
With Ag tires i may not need chains unless on hard packed snow or ice.

This is how I want my Blade to lift lower and turn!

You have exactly what I want CC. I check the blades out at my dealer and it looks very sturdy. I always wondered if installing the blade would interfere witht he front pulleys. Your pics answered that question for me. Thanks :)

I bought a basket case CC 124 several years ago, and thought all the parts were there, at least I had several baskets.

I'm down to mounting the Dozer Blade, and for the life of me, cannot figure out all these brackets. What I have doesn't ever come close to what my 2042 uses for it's blade.

Would anybody have picture of a snowblade mounted on a 124 Narrrow Frame CC? I would appreciate if if you would e-mail it a van@cottom.org if should have one. Doesn't have to be a great picture, just enough I can figure out all these brackets. Thanks to all! Van

I learned real quick that you must have the rear weighted, and you do need chains. Now, I did take a look at the weight kit CC has, went to our local scap yard, got what I needed and build my own rear mounted suitcase weighs for 1/3 of CC wanted.

Since, I ran into a fellow that told me the CC front bumper will slide right into the brackets on rear of the tractor. He filled the bumper with lead shot, and has all the weight he needs, plus a place to store his bumper when he is using the blade. I haven't checked it yet, be certainly intend to - Van

I posted a while ago that i had installed a bumper on the rear. the only mod is to re-drill and tap one set of mounting holes in the bumper. I think the frame holes in the front are something like 1/4 inch different in the front than the back but measure them. What I do remember is that the front holes were slightly different than the back. One set of the Bumper holes were slotted and just make it in the front. That is the center to center holes in the bumper did not match the center to center holes in the frame and would not have worked if the one set of holes were not slotted. The bumper I used in the rear I modified to add support to the rear hitch pin support which is weak on the 2542 and I assume the 1000 series. The 3000 series has a stronger support.
I still have the info on what I did somewhere if you need it, just ask.

PS-added pictures of rear bumper mod. I tapped the bumper and then welded nuts for extra strength. Looks like I lost the thread on the bumper dimension info but like I said, the dimensions were close but required some modification. Seems like CC should revisit the hole location dimensions and then no mods would be required to use the front bumper in the rear.

The bumper our local MTD/Yardman dealer (Rural King) sells for thier tractors is the same bumper as the MTD/Cub Cadet bumper, but far less expensive.

I was looking for a used snow blade for the front on my tractor when I came across the Johnny Bucket. Not only a bucket for all seasons but plows snow pretty darn good also. I got all the attachments, so the bucket raises and lowers with the flip of a button but also dumps! Has over 200lbs of down preasure. When the snow gets too deep or high of a pile I just tilt the bucket down and take a load down the street!
Would give this product a thumbs UP!!:)
