Has anyone added a Kubota down pressure relief valve for their L series front snowblower or other implement?

If so, did you notice any difference in operation of the implement?

Thanks

Can you explain it's function?
I've never heard of a "down-pressure" relief valve before-especially for a snowblower.

Perhaps you are thinking of "float"? Where the implement can/will follow the contour of the ground? If so then you already have that-all modern tractors do as a standard feature.

It is not a float position where the only determinant of down pressure is the weight of the implement itself. My understanding is that it allows a certain amount of down pressure and adjusts according to changing contours (kind of like draft control except for the front implement). Maybe someone more knowledgeable can chime in with a better explanation.

Well sorry that no one else is offering any help, but I have never heard of such a thing-and I suspect no one else has either.

Good luck in your quest.

Forcing oil over such a valve in that situation would cause overheated oil. It's a bad idea for that reason, and that's why no one so far has heard of it in practice. It wouldn't work as active limited downpressure without the valve spool being stroked all the time. Again, not good for open center systems.

I don't know anything about it, other than it is a Kubota factory option. From what I have read it seems it is only really needed when using the front flail mower on the Auto Hitch and new K-Connect.
It allows the flail to follow the ground contours. But I haven't seen it used with a blower or blade.

Tractor arrived back from dealer today. Will try to get a pic later.

Does certainly limit down pressure and rate of drop of front blower.

Bare pavement now and haven't tried to run blower across driveway surface to see if a difference. Will probably have to wait until next winter to see if there is a difference.

Sorry to bring up a 2 year old thread but I am having a really hard time finding out what the Kubota L4456 Ground Pressure Relief Kit actually does.
Searching the internet brings everything back to this forum/thread. Does anybody have any information or experience with this kit? The dealer says
it is recommended but not required. Up here in Canada the kit is $1700 so I don't really want to waste the money if it does not do anything much
different than the floating function. I wish Kubota had more information about this kit!

I believe it is exactly that..a float function just like your loader arms. It's used for front implements that attach with loader removed such as snowblowers with their own mounting/articulating systems that would rely on gravity alone to stay in contact with the ground.
The newer bx series likely would not need this addition as the loader control (incl. float) stays with tractor when loader is removed and is used with the snowblower.

Only speculation on my part, but I don't think that's it. I've seen down pressure relief kits as an option on the Grand Ls. The loader plumbing on those stays with the tractor & has float.
