Working on planning a closet for a room and I am trying to figure out how to do doors on it. Below is a picture of how I am planning on making the closet.
Closet 1.jpg
Color key:
Red = Closet outline
Blue = Shelves
Green = Clothes Rods
Yellow = Support post (might stop at the lower rod and just be a hanger, not sure yet)

There will be a wall on the far left (next to the door), the total width is 70" (wall to door).
I was thinking of a pair of ~30" bifold doors (custom made to follow the line of the lower portion of the ceiling), with a wheel to run on the front of the shelf (to keep the top from digging into the wall) and a track on the bottom (mounted in a slot routed into a board) to keep the door in.

Thanks

We used custom-cut bi-fold doors for a similar closet on the second floor of a cape cod style house once. Worked pretty good. Standard single-panel doors would be OK too, if there is space for them to swing into the room (which looks to be true in this case, but was not the case with that cape). I'd probably go single-panel if they would work, just to minimize complexity.

I've thought about single panel doors, but we are planning to have a sewing/craft table under the window just to the right of the picture, so I dont know that there will be space for single panel doors. That would certainly make fitting doors easier.

How about bi-fold doors that fold out, rather than in? they won't take up as much space and could be set up to open either left or right.

So have the "middle" doors swing "out" and back against the "outer" doors vs the pivot point between then swinging out?
I'll have to look into that, my main concern with that style would be banging the doors into the wall.

Taking a different idea, what if you built 3 roll out sections that you pull out one at a time into the room? Each one is almost 23"+/-. Your clothes rods would be shorter at 90 degrees to your drawing, no doors to make just fixed angled end panels.

That could work. If I put 3 doors on and have just the rod slide out, that would actually add more rod space as three ~30" deep rods would total 90" of rod vs 70" if I went across...
