Don't laugh: I think I have a family of mice living in my FEL arm!

I know mice like to find nice warm places to nest when fall nears, so usually I'm pretty on the ball to check the engine compartment, in front of the radiator; on top of the fuel tank etc. I'd done it not more than 3 weeks ago. Was mowing my trails and out the corner of my eye I see something on the right side of the engine. I look; couldn't figure out what it was; probably a leaf. Then two mice scurry from the engine compartment, up the FEL hoses, and into the FEL arm at the top pin!

I got rid of the nest in the engine compartment but need advice on the FEL arm. Is it welded shut all the way down except for the back end where the pin goes? Do I fill it with water, hoping to drive/scare them out? Then lift the FEL to drain the water? I really don't care if they find that a comfortable home, so long as no other damage is done. Ideas?

Can you drop a few moth balls down there? That is providing you can find some moths!

I have found that the cheapest smelliest drier sheets work great for keeping mice off of and out of my equipment.

I was going to suggest moth balls, but Gary just ruined that for me. I'll probably never use them for anything again.

My mom goes to Florida every fall, every year when she came back I would take her suv out of the barn and get it ready for her, every year it would have mice nests in the intake and in the interior, I read somewhere drier sheets keeps them away and cheap dollar store ones work best, so off I went to the dollar store and picked up a few boxes, I didn't want to put those smelly things inside the vehicle so I decided to put them on the floor of the barn and a few in the wheel wells, wala, no more mice nests in the engine compartment or anywhere in or on the vehicle in the last three years..

I've used dryer sheets for years, Dollar Store cheapies. They remain effective all winter long, no need to change weekly, monthly or anything else.
