For the last two days we were told how big the hail would come with the storms so I convinced the wife to let me use her futon cushions to protect the lights on the tractor.

:thumbsup: Points for ingenuity! I'm not too far from the N.Ga/Al border and ran out and bought a good weather radio yesterday and spent about an hour picking up and putting away stuff for much the same reason. If I wasn't fortunate enough to have a shop I would've been doing the same thing, or trying to figure out how to cram two cars and a tractor into a two car garage.

I hope the OP did a good tie down job with the cushions. Bad weather is usually accompanied with high winds. Cushions are much better than parking it under a tree to help alleviate hail damage which is about all we could do back on the farm I grew up on, but then again, we didn't worry too much about weather damage, just tilted the seat so it wouldn't be full of water when we got back on it.
We didn't wax them either or seldom even washed off the dust unless the rain did it for us. Mother nature usually kept the equipment clean enough for use. Some of the TBN members treat their tractors to wash and wax more frequently than I do the family car. I try to keep mine just clean enough so that I don't get too dirty getting on and off, otherwise it just sets under my shed till needed. I do hose off the windows on the cab when it gets too bad to see thru.
