It's in the woods on my familys' property, is it a fertilizer spreader from days gone by or what ?
Has 4 sections and little doors that slide open at the bottom of each section for letting out fertilizer...or something.
Would like to know what it is and about how old it is?
Thanks if you can help...kinda like it but on the wire whether to get it hauled off or keep it as a " woods ornament"

I got to thinking no way would it have something to do with spreading fertilizer...doors are too big/would be overkill spreading it.
So, I thought something to do with corn perhaps .
In looking at photos on the web I THINK it may be part of a process with corn pickers from days gone by.
Never found anything exactly like it but some pics. are somewhat similar.
STill all ears if anyone can chime in though !

Could be a feed hopper or like you said a crop hopper. Have seen something similar for feeding cattle. Open the hopper doors and drive to lay down feed rows.

Grain hoppers tend to be bigger and singular bin. This is a 4 bin hopper. It suggests to me that it is for "delicate" crops like tomatoes, peaches, grapes, specialty crops, etc. To me 4 bins is the key to ID'ing it.

What part of the country is this located in? That might help narrow down what it was used for.

It reminds me of what would go on the bottom of a train car for grain.
