A funny side mark here.

Most of my cats are 'house only' and thusly i refer to them as the 'inmates'..

We've got a neighbor way up the road that feels they're doing the cat population a favor by letting them breed like crazy. Unfortunately for the kittens, almost all of them get picked off by coyotes, bobcats, Horned Owls, cars, etc. Every once in a while, one will make it all the way to our place - and I'll tell you, if they can make it this far without getting picked off, they're SMART. We have two cats from up there and one of them is smarter and more clever than most people I know.

Since the local wildlife has been taught to rely on cats as a food source, all of ours are indoor-only now. We've lost a few that just 'disappeared', and I personally saw one get chased by a bobcat - right into the road where it got hit and killed by a speeding car. Real shame becaue she was a sweet cat.

Well, i am not crazy about cats but it seems like the locals have responded to the calling of the wild so good for them. Unfortunately, any ground nesting native birds are food for the kitties.

Anybody want to fill in the blanks on this situation?

I opened the door to feed the barn cats this morning..... picked it up with the shovel, rigor mortis had not yet set in. It was a good 25 pounder.

****, those are some tough cats!! I would have thought a fight with big possum would have gone the other way. Those things can do some damage when they're PO'd.
