Dongfeng vs Jinma

I would take those statements with a grain of salt, sales hype. First off the dongfeng uses the same engine as Jinma. Second the hydraulic system is shared with the rear diff. so if you have a contamination problem in the rear it can be sucked into the hydraulic system. I personally do not like that 1st and reverse are close. I checked out the dongfeng's, seem to be a ok tractor, but to call it better than others like Jinma or Kama is a stretch.
If you read what they say they condem the Jinma's for having duel hydraulic pumps, but at the same time the dongfeng does also. What you get for over $5000.00 more is a syncro trans. Neighbor down the road from me has a Bull Dog dongfeng and he has had a lot of problems with his.

gunslinger, I have a TaskMaster (DF) and I believe that the engines are not the same as the Jinma's.

As to the original posted question, yes it's hype and I backed away from the Jinma after reading their post. My TM has had a few problems, nothing major that would require a dealer to fix though.

Just hype. Tooting your own horn too much puts up a red flag for me. As for Northern Tool (Nortrac), I have one and no problems other than some bad glow plugs which was readily taken care of. I have just under 100 hrs. on it. That's not a whole lot of hours, but most problems show up pretty quickly. I'd buy another one or bigger one if I had a need for it.

Not sure of the Taskmaster, but I have seen a DF 254 Bulldog, which had the same engine (Y385) as Jinma 254/284s.

Taskmaster has had that same hype, on their numerous websites, over the years. This hype was subject to long discussions on the original CTOA board, years ago. As with most hype, just a touch of truth to get you to believe in it all.

I looked at Bull Dog 354 (dongfeng) it has the 395 engine same as Jinma, also the dongfeng 254 had a 385 engine, same as Jinma.
