Hope it isn't out of line posting this- I know many if not most of us have dogs we love.

Couldn't this also happen with a tennis ball ?

I suppose it could if the tennis ball had one hole in it. One hole the dog's tongue could barely fit in. Of course tennis balls aren't sold with a hole in them like the toy.
