DOG QUESTION

   / DOG QUESTION #11
my wife and i are retired and decided it was time for another puppy we got a little pomerain chichaua mix only 3 months old, had him 2 weeks and he is doing fine. but for some reason this little guy loves to root in the grass and find and eat worms on ocassion. why does he do that and will it hurt him? he has food so it is not because he is hungry.

What are you feeding this puppy? This behavior may be because something is missing in his food.

Old Fudge began limping last Labor Day, and on 10/16/07 he passed away from cancer. Like Bird, we just got too attached and have not gotten another dog (we do have another dog, that we already had).

When Fudge was less than a year old he chewed up a plastic womens shaving razor. We found ONE of the little blades and a couple of drops of blood. Vet said feed him lots of bread, he ate a whole loaf and other than not wanting to eat for a couple of days after that he suffered no ill effects. We are pretty sure he did not eat a blade, but don't know for sure.

Pups will get into about anything, so it does not surprise me. Could be he has a little armadillo in him.

   / DOG QUESTION #14
Frank, two or three years ago, my grandson, as a school project tried to determine which dry dog food was the best; i.e., healthiest for the dogs. I really don't know what he did or how scientific it was, but his conclusion was the IAMS and Science Diet are the best and those two brands are virtually the same thing. Our daughter feeds her Maltese IAMS. When we bought this Chihuahua pup, the lady said she'd been feeding Science Diet, so Science Diet is still what we use.

But there's a slight problem, unfortunately of my own doing. I started giving the dog a bite of whatever I happened to be snacking on, so now she thinks she should have some of whatever we're eating, and she usually gets it, too. She won't bark, but will just sit there staring at you, and if you ignore her, after awhile, she'll reach with one front paw to touch you on the leg to make sure you do know she's there.

My dog Buddy knows that he gets a treat of what I'm eating every once in a while. He may look at me from across the room, but all I have to say is "Are you begging?". He'll go lay down but not keep his eyes off me. He usually gets something :D

I don't guess I've made any pictures of Dee this year, but when we first got the little scamp, she was small enough that she walked through a chain link fence a few times. And for some reason, she wanted to climb up on my shoulder to nap. A month or so later, she looked a lot like your new dog, Frank. And then by last year, she was grown up.

My Border collie will go as far as smelling your breath to make sure he is getting what you got :D

That's pretty smart, Ed. What happens when you give him a milk bone instead of what was on your breath?
