I know someone that was in a serious truck accident and, because the dog was somewhat secured in the back seat it was only minimally hurt. It could have easily been killed. We are debating getting a truck kennel to put the dog into while driving. Not very dog-centric but they live to talk about it.
This is not about using the crate but I WAS almost killed by a semi driver that had a Border Collie in the cab with her. It was loose and bouncing around the cab when she hit me. Dogs should be secured to prevent driver distraction. Note, the driver did not even get out of the truck to check on me, I had to make the call for help. Long story but not for here.

Exactly. I can't drive and keep myself, my passengers and other drivers safe with a dog in my lap.

lmao that’s funny and I feel your pain … mine is 6 month now, she has been very good, but she is not without challenges. I fell the same, sometimes i am like she is so good, other times she makes me question my capabilities and I am afraid the worse is comming. I was scared to get a GSD, i was afraid to have my hands full and that fear is justified, they are a handful their combination of prey drive and stubbornness is something else. She made me think, re evaluate research and try new methods. I am not judging I also lost patience with her once or twice I try my best not too and keep that has last resort but sometime it is what it is, i gave her many chances and if you don’t seize them something will happen and you won’t like it. (within reason of course I make sure my timing is bang on, it’s about hurting their ego not them) I am bless to have a land that i can bring them daily, I am off 2 weeks at the time so we can spend time together and do a few training sessions a day, she sleep in a crate which help. I have a wonderful energetic Lab that treated her like her pup at least she did but now that’s giving use some challenges on its own, we have to give them some time apart because we have some dominance issue between them, (two females). We are working on that, right now that’s my biggest challenge, so we are working on leave it and stay. I attributed them some places in the living room and it’s infantry style no more free for all… second is we have lots of work to do on the leash, I found a effective method now so progress is being made, we had some recall issue at first but now she good just maintaining that training. We have done lots of socializing my last time off, that little bugger is a dominant one, she flipped on their back all 3 of my sister dogs ( a GSD (2 year old ish) a young great dane (1 year old) and a older Lab (6 ish)) i was blown away not what i wanted or expected… but at least it was all positives.
Ours was a land shark until she was about 6 months old. You had to sit with your feet up or make sure you had something on your feet. If you forgot, you got the needles

Ours was the least destructive puppy we ever had though. But we kept her over loaded with chew toys, and wore her out when we were home with training and games.

She did uproot some potted plants on the sun porch, and had a spot she liked to dig in, in the flower bed.

It was a challenge sweeping the floor. She thought the best, most exciting thing to do was pounce on the dust mop

It was super cute when she weighed 10lbs and attacked the dust mop. It was different when she hit 40lbs and you forgot to put her outside before sweeping

lol ho gezz I can't imagine enduring that for 6 months ... we had all these phase as well, the running after the broom and attacking our feet, I was very afraid these will stick around but they didn't last too long we where able to get her through it pretty quickly.

We were certainly questioning whether we made the right choice of pooch at the 5 month mark with the needles

She's 9yo now and still a daddies girl

Mutts visit the neighbor collage girl. Tell me dogs aren't good for kids! :ROFLMAO:
Dogs are good for kids, adults and the elderly. They reduce stress in everyone, cause you to live longer and give those not so inclined, a reason to get up in the morning. All medically proven.

My very tired Springer below after a hard day working and playing in the fields yesterday. She was falling asleep while waiting for a snack.

A little back story about Elle. She and few other school gals rent a house down the street from us. They go to school at MI tech. Ella has always liked to coddle mutts when we went by the reason we got to liking her, but she was still here when all the other kids are long gone for the holiday which kinda made us worry. So I stopped by to learn she has a boyfriend whose out of school and works in town, so she was sticking around so as to spend more time with him. She is still heading downstate to spend the holiday with her fam soon. We also know her twin brother who also goes to tech.

Often people mention that they've rescued a dog, in many cases, I think it's the other way around.

Most of them have been the dog I needed not the dog I wanted at that time. Each taught me lessons I had to learn.

Now to figure out what I'm supposed to learn from the Beagle/Border Collie that adopted himself into the household..... So far besides anger and frustration (sure that is not the intended lesson) I'm clueless. He is just a wild child and I spend hours per day getting him out of trouble. Listens just fine once you have eyes on him but when you don't........
