My last dog, before the wife became allergic was a mutt we named "Grumpy" due to her vocalizations.

She was always glad to see the people she knew.

Here is Sadie. Our 13.5lb miniature Datsun. You wouldn稚 think she is so small by her bark. It starts at the tip of her tail and builds up volume as it travels her body...ha...ha. She is a great dog that loves everybody. She also loves to go...anywhere.

Bad news....Sadie has hurt her back and is currently unable to use her rear legs. We took her to the Vet and he put her on Prednisone to help relieve the swelling and promote healing. Also got some pain meds to help her rest. She seems a little better and is eating and drinking some. If she gets over this I will have to put in some steps or ramps to keep her from jumping on and off the furniture. She is such a good dog. Just breaks my heart to see her like this.

I'm really sorry to hear about what your going through with your dachshund. Wife and I had to put down our mini a couple years ago do to a similar situation. He ruptured his disc in his back and the vet figured it severed his spine. We still miss the guy. He had such a large personality for such a little dog.

Sorry to hear about Sadie. They just don't realise that jumping off a chair can have nasty consequences for them.
Our little Heidi got hit by a car a few weeks ago and dislocated her rear leg. It took the Vet a fair bit to get it to stay back in place.
She can at least walk on it but if she is in a hurry she picks it up to run. She also likes to climb onto the lounge chairs and then she jumps down. Makes me shudder.

My chocolate Lab puppy OLLY is 14 weeks old now. As a puppy - when I got him - post# 2099. This picture was taken 3/27/2018 during a microsecond of contemplation. "Which dirt clod will I attack next". The chocolate color only hides the dirt smudges for so long..............

Olly is so beautiful! Take good care of him and you will be rewarded with 10-15 years of unconditional love.

Thanks guys. Sadie passed away yesterday. We were prepared to deal with the handicap but apparently her injury caused other problems. Its hard to believe she is gone. I have lost dogs in the past but this one has really hit hard.

Just want to introduce myself and family. A long story short we have a long history of dog ownership (13) over the past 40 years. The last few dogs led us to Saint Bernard's. We lost our two rescue Saint Bernard's after many years of quality, pain free living last Summer and Fall due to old age (10.5 years) and bone cancer at 8+. It was a uncomfortable void until today; our first of ultimately two Saint Bernard rescues if things work out:

I tear up with every story of a beloved pet crossing the "Rainbow Bridge." I truly hope to rejoin my/our pack when it is my "turn."

One never really knows what they are rescuing. Reports do not always reflect reality.

I/We are on the receiving end with this adoption/rescue which is a beautiful change from departing.....

My condolences on your loss of Sadie. We've had to put a couple of Labs down in the past couple years.

Here's a pic of our Schipperke (skipper-key). She just had 4 male puppies last night. Unfortunately the first puppy did not make it, but the other three are doing great.

Very nice. I always enjoy hearing of a rescue success.

Maybe others will confirm this but we got two dogs from a rescue group for that breed and they seem to know that we saved them and are extra appreciative. There is an extra layer of happiness or thankfulness or whatever. One only rarely leaves my side and both are happy 24/7. Their tails wag constantly.

All my dogs have been rescues. Some are not without work but all have been very rewarding. My most recent is a Border Collie cross Whippet (non stop lightning bolt) that was traumatized in her previous life. VERY good dog, but I am still her one and only. Warming up to others is still a work in progress after a year, baby steps.
